Disease chronic calculous cholecystitis

Chronic cholecystitis - an inflammation of the gallbladder caused by the presence in this organ of gallstones, which are the main irritant in the vast majority of cases.

However, in rare cases, chronic cholecystitis can develop without stones. Then it will be acalculous cholecystitis. Chronic cholecystitis developing gradually over many months and years is called primary, and chronic cholecystitis, which arose after the previous attack of acute cholecystitis - secondary.

These two species distinguish not only the onset of the disease, but also the subsequent changes. Primary cholecystitis does not change the thickness of the gallbladder wall and does not change its structure. With secondary chronic cholecystitis, there is a noticeable thickening (more than ten millimeters) of the gallbladder wall.

Symptoms of chronic calculous cholecystitis

In chronic cholecystitis, periodic pains are observed on the right side of the abdomen and in the epigastric region after eating, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Duration of painful attacks is significant - from several hours to several days with an interval of several years. The growth of temperature is not observed. Patients develop a feeling of bloating in the right hypochondrium. When eating fatty foods, there is discomfort in the abdomen.

To confirm the diagnosis, an ultrasound is performed, which has a large (98%) reliability. In this study, both stones and thickening of the wall of the bladder are found.

Treatment of the disease

The main method of treatment of chronic calculous cholecystitis - The surgical, gallbladder is simply removed. Conservative treatment is applicable only in the case when the operation is impossible for some indicators of the patient's health.

In our time, the gallbladder with stones is removed by laparoscopic method, it is more easily tolerated by patients and has better cosmetic consequences.

In some cases, when the exit from the gall bladder is blocked by a stone chronic cholecystitis passes into the dropsy of the gall bladder . In this case, an acute infection develops, although in some patients, severe inflammation may not be present. In the gallbladder does not act bile, it begins to gradually fill with mucus. A bubble filled with mucus is the dropsy. Prolonged development of dropsy greatly increases the size of the gallbladder, it strains and is easily probed in the abdomen.

Treatment of edema of the gallbladder is only surgical. The operation is performed by the method of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Usually, from cholelithiasis, adults, especially obese women suffer.

The causes of the appearance of cholecystitis

Stones are formed as a result of stagnation of bile in the gallbladder and an increase in the concentration of bile salts due to metabolic disorders.

The development of LCF is often cited:

  • pregnancy,

  • irregular feeding,

  • obesity,

  • hormonal contraceptives,

  • pancreatic disease,

  • a sharp decrease in immunity,

  • sedentary lifestyle,

  • hereditary predisposition.

  • One or more of these causes lead to the precipitation of cholesterol crystals, which are the germ of the future stone. The composition of stones - bilirubin, cholesterol and calcium salts.
