The shin is called the lower bone of a person's leg, which passes into the foot. More precisely, bones, since the shin consists of two bones: the tibia (inner) and the tibia (outer).
Fractures of the bones of the lower leg occur quite often and require long treatment and an equally long period of rehabilitation. Typically, treatment takes about six weeks, after which the rehabilitation period lasts up to four months.
During rehabilitation, the patient's task is simple - to restore lost motor functions, and, in full, and also to prevent the stagnation that may arise as a consequence of the fracture.
So, rehabilitation methods in the recovery period after a shin fracture
1. Massage. With closed fractures, massage is prescribed for day 3 after trauma. In this case, the symmetrical segment of the healthy leg is massaged. And also the corresponding reflex-segmental area is massaged - this is the lumbar and lower thoracic spine. Vibration massage is also shown in cases of delayed consolidation.
2. Exercises to restore the range of movements in the joints surrounding the tibia. For this, exercises are carried out on the ankle and knee. Lesson is best done in the water - for example, in the pool. Starting position: standing on waist in water. The injured leg is a step forward, the knee bends as far as possible. Then you need to return to the starting position. It should be repeated 10-12 times in two or three approaches. Strengthening the leg: regularly climb the stairs, starting the ascent from the injured leg and from 10-15 steps, gradually increasing both the number of steps and the number of approaches.
3. Restoration of balance. For this you need to walk periodically in a straight line, and after achieving a good result, go to a more complex exercise - walking on the surface of a log. So it takes a day to 35 meters. Moreover, the exercise is better to vary: to walk on toes, on the heels, on the inner and outer vaults of the foot, walking sideways, back, in a semi-squat, with a cross step, with the support of the foot on the crossbar.
4. Special exercises: active flexion of the toes, gripping the toes and holding various objects, rolling with the feet of the ball. The duration of medical gymnastics, the amount of exercise is prescribed by the doctor, since it depends on the course of the illness and the complexity of the fracture.
